    LESI Conference 2010

The LESI Conference to be held from the 11th to the 14th of April 2010 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, will bring together specialists in patents, copyrights, trademarks, and various areas of intellectual property as well as economists, academia, medical and other professionals. The delegates will listen to top speakers on topics such as innovation collaboration and the roles of emerging economies. Not only trade and trademark licensing agreements, but various aspects of patents will come under the spotlight.

Financial, social, and legal aspects surrounding innovation collaboration will be discussed. In addition to the keynote addresses, plenary sessions and workshops will be held to investigate sub-issues such as medical licensing for life saving drugs, how the Pharmaceutical IP policy is changing in the developing world, and collaboration strategies amongst top pharmaceutical companies. In addition a closer look at recent European Intellectual Property judgements in courts regarding patents, copyrights, and trademarks will be shared and the future impact assessed. Recent IP case law in the United States pertaining to all areas of Intellectual Property will also be discussed during one of the workshop sessions.

Technology transfer and clean technology for energy will come under investigation. As pressure is building to develop cleaner energy solutions, patents and developments in the clean tech industry must be encouraged. The questions of how the evaluation, execution and licensing of the new clean technological developments should be handled will be investigated in one of the workshops.

If you are interested in the topics that will be discussed at the LESI Conference or wish to get more information about the various workshops including the ones focussing on patents you can visit the LESI website at www.lesi2010.org.
