    Internet Plagiarism

    Instances of Internet Plagiarism

Internet plagiarism is threatening the very core of any writer with substance. It has become far too easy to copy and paste content from one site to another and not get caught in the act. Many believe that Internet plagiarism is not at all important, mostly because they are the culprits. Plagiarism is the act of taking the materialized ideas of another person and using them in part or whole as your own without recognition of the source.

Article rewriting services are offered all over the Internet. Most of the services are legitimate and writers with integrity would use their own experience and knowledge in combination with research as well as their own writing styles to bring forth original well written articles for search engine optimization. Some however, may feel tempted to take information from other websites, rewrite such and often forget one or two sentences in the process. Those two sentences are often the only reason why software programs such as Copyscape pick up on the Internet plagiarism.

Website owners should be furious if they find that their content is duplicated somewhere else on the Internet as this will affect their own ranking and traffic. The problem is that many website owners never realize that they are guilty of Internet plagiarism as they have bought articles from an Internet site which has given them copyright over the content. The only problem is that the articles may already be partly copied content, which then means that the website where the articles are now displayed will be infringing on the real copyright holder rights.

There are a few simple steps you can take to prevent and act against a party guilty of Internet plagiarism. Contact us at Smit & Van Wyk for legal assistance.
