China trademark products to be expected in Western countries
June 10, 2009
Intellectual Property News and Interesting Facts
Although it will be nothing new to see more China products in Western countries such as South Africa, China has set a policy framework to export more trademark products.
The profit margins at present are extremely low, partially because they export so-called no name brands or products manufactured for well known USA or European brands.
By promoting the export of trademark products, China will be able to increase the profit margins and protect their brands overseas.
This should also be a lesson in business for South African companies.
Trademark products simply fetch better prices; have more credibility with consumers, and the owners of the trademarks have some protection against infringement of their rights.
