Elon Musk was born on 28 June 1971 in South Africa.

He bought his first computer at age 10 and taught himself programming. He sold his first commercial software at age 12 for about $500 (a space game called Blastar).

Elon Musk matriculating at Pretoria Boys High School and immigrated to Canada in June 1989.

He left for the U.S after he was granted a scholarship to study business and physics at the University of Pennsylvania.

In 1995 he started a graduate program in applied physics and materials science at Stanford University and dropped out after 2 days.

Elon Musk then started Zip2 – content publishing software which he sold in 1999 to Compaq’s AltaVista division for US$ 307 million in cash and US$ 34 million in stock options.

Elon Musk is best known for co-founding PayPal, SpaceX and Tesla Motors.

He is currently the CEO and CTO of SpaceX, CEO and Product Architect of Tesla Motors and Chairman of SolarCity.

Elon Musk is best known for:

- having created the first viable production electric car of the modern era (Tesla Roadster)
- designing a private successor to the Space Shuttle (F9 / Dragon)
- creating PayPal (the world’s largest Internet payment system)
