The patent lawyer will help an applicant to successfully complete all required forms, sign the relevant documentation and assist in drawing up specifications, ensure that there is agreements of transfer of rights where relevant, and will handle both the ZA and the Paris Convention applications.
The patent lawyer also guides the applicant through the process and does an extensive patent search at the registries and through databases on behalf of the client.
The patent lawyer will assess the patent application to ensure novelty, originality, and non-publication prior to the priority date of application. In addition the patent lawyer will assist in the drawings through the use of an expert in the field and will also handle the contracts or agreements where required on behalf of the client.
