The HSRC (Human Sciences Research Council) from South Africa has won a bid to host the World Social Science Forum in 2015.
Hosting the World Social Science Forum would boost social sciences in South Africa.
HSRC chief executive Dr Olive Shisana released of the council’s annual results in Centurion.
The core business of the HSRC is to conduct large-scale, policy-relevant, social-scientific projects for public-sector users, non-governmental organisations and international development agencies.
The first-ever World Social Science Forum convened in Bergen, Norway in 2009.
