Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson was born on 18 July 1950 in Blackheath, London.
He attended Scaitcliffe (Bishopsgate) School until the age of 13.
He then attended Stowe School until the age of 16 when he started his first successful business venture, a magazine called Student.
Richard Branson has dyslexia but discovered an ability to connect with people.

In 1972, at the age of 22, Richard Branson opened a chain of record stores, Virgin Records, later known as Virgin Megastores.
During his 30′s he set up Virgin Atlantic Airways and expanded the Virgin Records music label.
Richard Branson is the 5th richest person in the United Kingdom and 254th in the world, with an estimated net worth of approximately US$ 4.2 billion.
At the age of 43, Richard Branson was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Technology from Loughborough University.
Richard Branson was knighted by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2000 at an investiture in Buckingham Palace.
In 2007, Branson was presented with the United Nations Correspondents Association Citizen of the World Award for his support for environmental and humanitarian causes.
