Intellectual Property News and Interesting Facts
If you have an invention that you know is novel and you suspect that other people may want to copy it or take advantage of it, providing that the invention falls within certain limitations you may be able to patent it.
When letters patent are issued to you they pass on certain rights to you protecting the invention.
The patent provides the owner with the exclusive right to prevent all others from exploiting the invention for the life of the patent, which in South Africa is usually 20 years from the date of the first patent application being filed.

Hi, i have an idea – I have not shared this
with anyone – please advise more details.
I need a prototype to be made – do you know
of a company who would do this for me?
Do I need to Patent my invention first before
I get a prototype done??
Thanks & Regards
