Internet copyright violations are serious
There are a number of copyright violations that take place on the Internet of which a few will be shared below.
Articles stolen or not acknowledged properly
There are numerous article directories on the Internet. Authors provide website owners with the right to use the articles as long as the resource boxes stay in place and provided no part of the articles are changed in any way.
By mistake or most often on purpose, new website owners use the articles in their websites with their names as authors, links to their sites, and by changing one or two things in the articles.
Image copyright violations
Another one of the most common copyright violations is that of image stealing. Website owners copy the images from other sites, rename them and place the images on their own sites. It has become fairly common practice, but stays an infringement on the rights of the copyright holder.
Image linking
If a website places a link to an image from their website by using image linking, it can constitute a copyright violation if the image opens on their site as if the image belongs to them.
The normal steps to handle the copyright violations on the Internet will be to contact the perpetrator by email or legal letter requesting the removal of the material immediately.
A second step if no action is taken is to get a legal letter to the effect and to notify the service provider and the search engine. A final step is to take the case further through a lawsuit.
Fortunately most of the perpetrators respond to allegations of copyright violations by explaining the mistake and removing the material or by immediately removing the material.
