Learn from the Inventors of Old
Inventors are individuals who think outside the box and often bring solutions to everyday problems. Take for instance, paper.
Although the Egyptians produced the papyrus sheets and the Greeks the scrolls, it is one of the Chinese inventors that gave us the modern day thin paper. Cai Luan was the first person to create the thin sheet paper used today.
Another one of the inventors that changed the world was Thomas Alva Edison. Thanks to him we have the electric light and with more than a 1000 patents registered in his name, he most certainly paved the way for the industrial society.
If one of the most reputable inventors took the time to patent so many of his inventions, we should learn something from him. Without the protection granted by patent rights, mass production of his inventions would not be possible.
He played a vital role in the commercial exploitation of his inventions and learning from him, the modern inventors should do the same.
Chasing after riches before laying the foundation correctly is why so many inventors can only stand on the sidelines while those who have taken the time to patent their inventions and setting up license agreements, reap the fruits of their hard work.
If you are a modern day inventor, don’t rush into the production of your invention if you have not taken the steps to secure against exploitation and copying of your invention by others.
