Patent Application Information Retrieval System Also Known As PAIR
The Patent Application Information Retrieval system is divided into a public and private area. The Public Patent Application Information Retrieval System displays the published application status whereas the private section provides clients the ability to view the application status electronically. The information is displayed in real time and includes information about the current status of the application.
The Patent Application Information Retrieval system is in essence the online access system to the USPTO’s patent registration and pending information.
To get access to the private part of PAIR one must be a registered lawyer or the recognised independent inventor and must have a digital PKI certificate and a customer number.
It should be noted that PCT applications and any application not released by the USPTO will not show up on the public Patent Application Information Retrieval System.
What Is “The Kind Codes” referred to in the Patent Application Information Retrieval System?
Is refers to a standard of codes which was created by WIPO to indentify the particular type of patent document and the specific publication level. The kind code for the first application publication then will have a specific code such as A1.
Can Anyone Access the Public Patent Application Information Retrieval System?
Yes all that is required is the patent/publication number/application. A search can be conducted based on any of the above mentioned.
When clients request us to do a patent application search or a patent search for patents granted by the USPTO we will do so through the Private PAIR giving us exact information. We will then access PALM which is the private patent databases of the USPTO.
Should you need assistance with a complete patent search whether in South Africa, a PCT application or from the USPTO simply contact us.
With our expertise in patent searches and access to the Private Patent Application Information Retrieval system we can ensure a thorough search. |
