Egypt Trade Marks Requirements
To file a trade mark in Egypt, the requirements are as follows:
- Power of Attorney with Arabic translation, notarised and legalised up to the Egyptian Consulate
- Details of the Applicant (full names, physical address, nationality/country of incorporation)
- Certificate of Incorporation, legalised up to the Egyptian Consulate
- Representation of the trade mark(s)
- List of goods and/or services
- Certified copy of priority document (if applicable)
Egypt follows the The Nice Classification of Goods and Services and the duration of protection is 10 years from filing date and renewable for further periods of 10 years. Egypt is signed to the following International and Regional Systems: Paris Convention and Madrid Protocol.
Egypt’s main imports consist of pharmaceuticals and non-petroleum products such as wheat, maize, cars and spare parts. The main export products are cotton, rice, fresh oranges, potatoes and fresh onions, while the principal imports are wheat and wheat flour, maize, frozen meat, dairy products, refined sugar and vegetable oils. Egypt’s most important trading partners include China, the United States, Italy, Germany, and the Gulf Arab countries.
