Samsung Electronics is the flagship division of the Samsung Group, accounting for 70% of the group’s revenue. It is the world’s second largest information technology company by revenue, after Apple.

Samsung Electronics is a major vendor of smart phones and tablet computers and is generally regarded as pioneering the tablet market through the Samsung Galaxy Note family of devices. Each company within the Samsung Group is an independent legal entity. Samsung Group is not a legal entity and merely a term to conveniently refer to a group of companies that are tied together by their corporate history.
